Matt's Musical Mission: Central Europe Choir Tour 2018

Dear friends and family,

I am writing to let you know of an incredible mission opportunity that I have through my high school choir. We will be sharing our music in May and June of 2018 with the people of Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic and Germany.

I have been selected to sing in this touring choir and am excited about the opportunity to share God’s Word in song. Our choir has performance experience in the central Missouri region, as well as the annual domestic tour, but this will be our first tour abroad. A unique aspect of our school is that about half of the students come from other countries. Countries where they have never heard the Word of God. Countries such as those in Central Europe, where God’s Word was suppressed for many years under communist rule. Each year, we rejoice as fellow classmates become Christians. They heard about Jesus for the first time at our school.

We are “music missionaries.” Missionaries share the love of Jesus by developing relationships and by teaching others about the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ. They support other Christians and mission congregations. We will perform concerts in many of the re-emerging, and often small and struggling, Lutheran churches in Central Europe. We will also perform in some nursing homes and do some workshops and concerts in schools. In most of these locations, we know missionaries who work alongside the schools and congregations. We are honored to support their mission work.

Our choir director lived in Europe for many years and she visited the people in the places we will visit. She knows that the schools, congregations and missionaries are very excited about our trip—they will learn about our school and our faith, but another important part of this trip is this chance that we American students have to learn about their cultures by visiting with students and church members. We also plan to visit some important national sites as part of our own learning experience. We will sing some choir pieces in Slovakian, German and Hungarian, and are acquiring some basic language skills because we will be visiting villages and towns where people may speak little, if any, English.

So that I might go on this trip, I am asking for your prayers. The choir has been praying about this trip for much of this past year and we believe God is calling us to engage with the people of Central Europe. Our choir and our school need your prayers, and so do the struggling schools and congregations of Central Europe. Prayer is powerful and God is working to bring His people back to faith in this part of the world!

I am also asking that you please prayerfully consider supporting me financially in this opportunity. My out-of- pocket costs for this trip amount to $3000. Most of the countries we will visit are economically poor and while some congregations can provide some housing, many cannot. Airfare, tour bus, food and lodging add up. You may either contribute by giving online at the link to the left or by sending a check to:

Because of the payment deadlines, I am hoping to raise 70% of the amount by November 15th.

If you would like to know more about our trip or our school, please email me at rudowskes@gmail.com or visit our school website here.

Thank you for your support and your prayers.

Matt
